Gluteus Medius

Comments

The gluteus medius is one of the three gluteal muscles, located at the upper outer region of the buttocks.

Gluteus medius is recruited during hip abduction and lateral abduction. Exercises that require this movement will stimulate the gluteus medius effectively, and these can be viewed in the exercise section to the right.

Studies have shown that the gluteus medius usually has an abundance of Type i fibres. We could therefore conclude that hypertrophy may be best achieved from higher rep ranges, which has been shown to stimulate hypertrophy the most effectively in type i fibres.
