Directions:

Preperation/body position

  1. Place mat on floor, with assisted crunch equipment placed at the upper end.
  2. Lay on mat (face up), knees bent and feet flat on floor, with head supported by head rest on the crunch station.
  3. Place arms on pads to the side, and grasp the top handles for support.

Excution/Movement

  1. Raise head and shoulders off floor, rounding the upper portion of your back.
  2. After peak contraction, slowly lower shoulders and head back to starting position.
  3. The movement should be aided by the contour of the assisted crunch station.
  4. Repeat for desired number of repetitions.

Comments

The assisted crunch is an ideal exercise for those who wish to maintain good form during the execution of the crunch, which greatly stimulates the rectus abdominis, and the internal and external obliques.

The crunch will provide stimulus for possible hypertrophy of the abdominal muscles to take place. If a slimmer waist is the goal then diet and cardiovascular activities need to be address to lower body fat levels. Resistance training will spot reduce fat off a particular area.
