It's sometimes hard to keep up with the various bodybuilding supplements available, but there are a number of tried-and-tested supplements which can effectively aid you with your goal; whether it be gaining weight, losing body fat or adding lean mass.

For most, supplementing with protein - in the form of a shake - is a convenient way to meet the higher protein intake demand which comes when building muscle. But even with protein there are various types, such as whey, casein and blends.

As well as protein other popular supplements include creatine, amino acids and formulas which contain a mix of protein, carbohydrates and other extras to aid protein synthesis and muscle growth.
