We would firstly like to thank Multipower for the opportunity, and also assure our readers the following review is completely independent and honest. Multipower Platinum Bar
The nutritional values for a 50g bar are as follows:
• 175Kcals
• 24.6g of protein
• 14.2g of carbohydrates
• 9.0g of which are polyols
• 3.7g of fat
The benefits of the bar are said to be (taken from the Multipower web site):
• “50% protein”
• “carb-reduced snack bar”, “..only 29% of carbs”
• “only 7.5% of fat”
• “slowly absorbed” carbohydrate source (Maltitol)
• “aspartame free”
The Multipower Platinum bar contains 25g of protein per 50g bar from a selection of protein sources, including; milk protein isolate, whey protein concentrate and calcium caseinate. A mixed protein source is usually ideal for a snack based supplement product as it can lead to a more timed release of protein (whey protein is released relatively quickly, yet calcium caseinate is much slower) and can keep you fuller for longer. It is worth mentioning that the bar, as far as I can see, does not give a breakdown of the ratios used within this protein mix (i.e. how much of the total protein content is derived from milk isolate, whey concentrate and calcium caseinate), although this is not uncommon among products.
Lower calorie content is achieved with the use of Polyols as a carbohydrate source (Maltitol), which also has the added benefit of not contributing to tooth decay.
The bar is NOT suitable for people with nut allergies.
The (Chocolate) Multipower Platinum bar is covered in soft chocolate, with a chewy chocolate flavoured centre. Both the texture and taste of the bar is excellent and flawless.
Dieters could find the bar a great solution to their snacking urges or as a nutritionally sound treat every few days, price permitting. Bodybuilders and aesthetically focused trainers could find the Platinum bar ideal for times when they are travelling or busy at work, and require a very quick feed. I would not, however, include the bar as a staple part of an overall dietary plan. It is great tasting and ideal as a treat or when time is spare, but if you have the time there are more cost effective ways of consuming 25g of protein in a more balanced macronutrient feeding.
